How to make Brands OPEN Your Portfolio

Does this sound familiar?

You are right on track with your outreach:

sending out as many emails as possible.

But the response rate is just not what you expected… How can it be so low?

While growing my own audience and receiving pitches myself everyday,

I came to realize something which has really helped me with my own pitches.

Here a short example of someone pitching to me:

Hi Kees,
I have been following your YouTube channel for a while now!
I am a thumbnail designer and I’d love to create some thumbnails for your channel!
Here is some of my work: -portfolio link-
Hope to hear from you!

I’m sorry mate,

but I didn’t take the time to respond to this message…

Why?

His message doesn’t help me directly.

Maybe in the long run it could, but how would I know?

If I want to find out, in the first place, it will only cost me time.

He asks me to check out his portfolio,

and based on that make a decision if we would be a match.

It may sound harsh,

but for someone with a bigger platform,

these requests come in daily.

I simply do not have the time to respond to every request…

And it’s the same for bigger brands.

They don’t have the time.

You should not COST your client time.

You should SAVE your client time.

You need to immediately show that you can be of value.

So, a better email would be:

Hi Kees,
I’ve been following your YouTube channel for a while now, and I’ve noticed you’ve had some great thumbnails already, but it’s still a bit inconsistent in styling.

I help YouTubers with creating consistent and thumbnails that will get you a high click-through-rate. I would love to set up a call with you and discuss some of my ideas for your channel.
